Community Co-operative Sector Forum

Saturday 23 June (10:00am to 2:00pm)

An additional event complementing the key Co-ops NSW Conference 2018 (Friday 22 June), the Community Co-operative Sectors Forum, will be held at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) on Saturday 23 June.

Co-ops NSW designed the 2018 Conference and additional events to build the capacity of Co-operatives in NSW and stimulate co-operative learning and innovation. The Community Co-operative Sectors Forum has been developed to encourage networking amongst and between co-operative sectors.  The forum has generated significant interest with the Food, Child-care and Housing Co-operatives and will focus on community driven co-operatives.

Please note: The forum is primarily for the housing and retail food co-operative sectors who will meet in separate rooms for most of the day.

The Program will include

Key Speaker: Walter (Wally) Newman, Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH) Group Chair

  • CBH is Australia’s largest co-operative and a leader in the Australian grain industry.  Wally tells the story of CBH and the 4,200 Western Australian grain growers who withstood a demutualisation contest and a further challenge of the co-operative’s Non-distributive (NFP) staus that went all the way the High Court.  Regardless of size and scale Co-opertives have their members at their heart
  • Workshop/Forum – facilitated meeting of Community Co-opertives Sectors

Co-operative ingredients are nurtured, served and packed with values … co-operatives are stirred by a vibrant community of members fresh for tomorrows challenges.
